Eat fresh fruits that have high vitamin C like oranges,amla etc. Take a glass of lemon juice every day.

What not to eat?
  • You need to avoid foods high in purines like sweetbreads, anchovies, sardines, liver, kidneys, brains, meat extracts, gravy, mackerel, herring, scallops, beef, pork, poultry, shellfish, fish, mushrooms, spinach, cauliflower, asparagus, beans, peas, lentils, oatmeal, wheat germ and wheat bran.
  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine products.

  • Doctors also advise that the diet for reduction of uric acid should contain foods rich in complex protein like tofu, berries, bananas, tea, celery, parsley, cabbage and tomatoes.
  • You can also consume food that are low in purines and protein like eggs, butter, cheese, corn, gelatin, peanut butter etc. But then these foods are rich in cholesterol. So if you have high cholesterol, then avoid these foods.
  • Products like rice, pasta, whole wheat breads and cereals can be regularly consumed.
  • Foods rich in bromelain and vitamin C like pineapples, red cabbage and red bell peppers, soy products, lemon juice and fibrous foods, can also be very effective in reducing uric acid.
  • Fatty acids found in salmon, olive oil, flax, nuts, etc. may also be very beneficial to reduce uric acid levels.
