Bleeding gums is one of the most common teeth problem faced by many. Usually bleeding in gums starts when there is a build-up of plaque made up of the debris of food, germs and saliva. This combination hardens into a thin film-like substance called tartar,  which infests and irritates the soft tissue surrounding the gums and teeth and causes external bleeding. The best part is that there is never heavy bleeding to cause major alarm. In medical terminology, bleeding gums is referred as Gingivitis.

Home Remedies for Bleeding Gums
Though it is relatively a harmless condition caused by a bacterial infection, it is always better to prevent it and treat it as soon as possible to avoid further complications. Let us check out some home remedies to treat the problem of bleeding gums. 

  • Take a pinch of salt in warm water. Rinse your mouth with it. Do this twice a day as it increases circulation. It also helps in reducing gum swelling.
  • Drinking green tea is said to keep your mouth fresh.
  • Eat lots of organic fruits and vegetables to increase your Vitamin C intake.
  • Add 2-3 drops of tree oil to your toothpaste. It will help in removing the collected tartar.
  • Flossing your teeth every time you eat something is a great way to keep your teeth clean. Carry the floss in your bag or pocket and floss it every time you nibble or eat a meal.
  • Brush your teeth atleast two times a day.Use herbal toothpaste. Toothpaste containing mint, babool, neem, holy basil would be the best deal to fight gingivitis.   Also while brushing your teeth, angle the toothbrush to 45 degrees slightly massaging your gums. This keeps your teeth clean for the next few hours.
  • You can also regularly use essential oils like  age oil, peppermint oil, chamomile tincture, myrrh and Echinacea as mouthwash. They have excellent the healing properties and have powerful anti-inflammatory properties.Essential oil mouth wash can help to prevent the growth of bacteria.
  • It is also advisable to  drink a glass of lukewarm water twice daily in an empty stomach and beforegoing to bed.
  • Eat grapefruit. It contains the acidity to prevet the growth of bacteria in your mouth. 
  • Apply sesame oil directly onto the afflicted area, preferably by a damp cloth. 
  • One of the most popular natural remedies to cure gum bleeding is to rub the gums with clove oil. A burning sensation occurs but it would heal the ailment.
  • Another method would be to chew a piece of clove in the mouth.
  • Gargling with triphala concoction is beneficial in curing gingivitis. In a glass of lukewarm water, add a tsp of triphala powder. Gargle with this combination.
  • Aloe vera is also very helpful. Rub the aloe vera pulp in the mouth. After rubbing once, gargle with water. Repeat the process a few times.
  • Make a mixture of baking soda and water. Dab the affected area with a finger and then brush with the herbal powder. Not only would it heal but also neutralize the acidity of bacteria.
  • Take equal amounts of 3% solution of Hydrogen Peroxide and water. Gargle with this combination but make sure that it is not consumed.
  • Cranberry juice is also helpful in treating bleeding gums.
