4 Easy Tips to Prevent Dry Skin in Winters

COLD WEATHER OUTSIDE AND HEATED AIR INSIDE ARE the two main enemies of your skin during winter, which leads to extreme dryness. A few precautionary measures can solve this problem. To prevent your skin from drying during winters, just follow the following 4 tips:

  • Apply moisturiser regularly. Use moisturizer having a very rich oil as a main ingredient. For instance olive oil, avocado oil, or shea butter. If you have oily skin with dry patches, choose creams with less-rich oils like jojoba or hazelnut. Apply lotion or moisturiser after bathing while your skin is damp to lock in moisture and use the appropriate quantity. Over application may prevent your skin from making its own oils.
  • Check the temperature of your water before bath. Hot showers and baths deplete your skin of natural oils. Use warm water in bucket and limiting showers to 5 minutes.
  • Use rich soaps. Buy handmade soaps or bars that say "superenriched" or "superfatted" on the label. Such soaps contain skin-friendly free oils and natural glycerine.
  • Lastly, have a proper nutritious diet. Some nutritionists suggest moisturizing from the inside out: Eat flaxseed oil or cold-water fish like salmon to get essential fatty acids, and drink plenty of water.
